TROPICO: A BIBICAL FILM

Tropico is a short film loosely based on the Biblical story of redemption and sin.

Lana Del Rey both wrote and starred in this film that was released on December 4th, 2013.

The Plot:

Tropico is split into three chapters, Body Electric, Gods & Monsters and Bel Air, each of which featuring a song by Del Rey. The film starts out with Adam and Eve (played by Del Rey) in the Garden of Eden. Del Rey’s song Body Electric begins to play and at the end of it, Eve eats an apple from Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and then faints. Adam eats an apple from the tree was well and then they are both cast out of the Garden of Eden.

The second chapter, Gods & Monsters, shows a modern-day Adam and Eve living in Los Angeles. Del Rey’s song, Gods & Monsters, begins to play and it shows what Adam and Eve’s lives have become. In Gods & Monsters, there is a lyric that says “me and God, we don’t really get along so now I sing.” At this point in the film it is shown how Adam and Eve lives have drastically changed. They are no longer living in paradise and it seems as if God is no longer around to protect them. Del Rey’s lyrics translate to her no longer believing in God because of what her life as become.

In the final chapter, God reappears. It shows Adam and Eve driving towards a country side. Several clips show both of them being baptized and then “Bel Air” beings as they return back to heaven. Their return to heaven shows that they have finally redeemed themselves.

Isaac Weishaupt, founder of IlluminatiWatcher.com, wrote an article entitled: “Religious symbolism & MK ULTRA in Lana Del Rey ‘Tropico’ & ‘Ultra-Violence.’ Throughout the article, Weishaupt gives his viewpoints on the film and divulges what religious symbols he thinks are hidden in it. One of the main ones he discusses is that “We elevate the celebrities to the status of gods so that they’re right up there with Jesus.” This I believe to be true. In heaven, alongside Jesus, were Elvis and Marilyn Monroe. Both of these celebrities had high statues, so high in fact that Elvis was often compared to having many similarities with Jesus.

I believe that Del Rey wrote this film to show that she believes that God will forgive you for whatever sins you may have committed. It shows that she believes God loves all his children and that he will always allow them to redeemed.
